This weekend we decided to check out a couple spots in Minneapolis. One a Minneapolis staple for 21 years and the other only on its second day open.
First we went to Glam Doll Donuts. A little bit vintage pin up, a whole lot super delicious. I first read about it earlier this week on local designer Breanna Rose’s blog… which led me to this article. I would have never guessed it was only their second day open. It’s already a well oiled machine. Everything is beautifully decorated (someone has an eye for detail there!). The ceiling is pink and there’s even a photo booth. The donuts are delicious and have names like Starlet, Sugar Kane, and Calendar Girl. There’s some interesting combinations such as a donut with peanut butter and Sriracha sauce. My husband tried and loved a donut with maple glaze and maple bacon, yes BACON on a donut. I hope they find huge success, but based on how busy it was today there I’m guessing they won’t need any of my hope.
After sugaring ourselves up we headed out to Wild Rumpus. Wild Rumpus is a children’s bookstore with flair. It has an eclectic collection of books (including “recycled” books), numerous store pets, and a mini door sized for tots like my daughter to come in and out of the store. Of course we left with the only Thomas the Train book we could find and some train stickers, because we’re all about trains these days in our house.
