Every summer the Fourth of July sneaks up on me. Suddenly I realize summer seems to be half way through. So I love to make sure we make the most of the day. One of the best things about Independence day as a holiday is that it’s so laid back. This year we hung out with family and neighbors and the weather was beautiful.
I am not a huge parade and firework person, but now that I’m a mom it turns out that I am. I don’t mean that sarcastically either (I know it’s shocking for me not to be sarcastic). I love the anticipation followed by the pure joy and excitement that lights up in my daughter’s face at these sort of events.
We also had a little dog visitor over the holiday. Even though we have two of our own dogs my daughter was enamored with my friend’s dog whom we were dog sitting. My dogs are lap dogs and aren’t much for playing fetch or splashing in water. The fact that our house guest is a rough and tough dog was a lot of fun and entertainment for all of us.
