The focus of the Lab I attended was on learning how to arrange flowers. Being a wedding photographer has definitely piqued my interest in flowers and the art of arranging them in an aesthetically pleasing yet interesting manner. I always seem to struggle when I bring home a bunch of flowers from the farmer’s market. Our adorable and crazy talented teacher for the night was Jackie, owner of Munster Rose. Not going to lie. I follow Jackie on Instagram and am always blown away by her beautiful creations, so I was pretty excited to learn some tricks from her. After learning some basics on arranging we got to pick our flowers based on a recipe Jackie came up with. Then it was time to get our hands dirty and arrange!
Now let’s be real, there’s no way I’m quitting my day job here. Arranging flowers is something that will always be a challenge for me, but I definitely feel more confident and excited about it. I may or may not have been the only person in the room who ended up with a vase that weight wise was completely unbalanced and it might have, just maybe tipped over and spilled water everywhere. GUYS. Creating florals, especially the huge and amazing ones I see at weddings, takes real talent. Amazing florists are worth every penny. They choose premium blooms and have gobs of talent paired with an eye for design. Just don’t forget to hire an equally amazing photographer to forever document for you the beauty of those florals and how they were a part of your day.
I can’t leave my camera at home when I know there’s going to be beautiful flowers around so yes, I was that person who had a camera in hand. Here’s some photos from the Floral LAB followed by some of my creation after I brought it home.
